Artist's Description
It's a challenge to depict the badlands of southwestern North Dakota in all their seasons and aspects, but it's something that I would like to accomplish. There is a tremendous difference between the neon green of early summer to the blinding white of mid-winter.
About Cris Fulton
Bowman artist Cris Fulton loves the grasslands and badlands country of southwestern North Dakota, northwestern South Dakota, and southeastern Montana. She considers the magnificent prairie landscape of the Little Missouri, Powder, and Yellowstone rivers to be her own artistic backyard. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Dakota, and has been an artist and photographer throughout her life. "To me, this territory is nothing less than a prairie paradise, a garden of Eden, and a heaven on earth. People who have grown up in this remarkable region affectionately call it "God's Country." This is a very rugged, yet vulnerable landscape; one that I fervently hope will be preserved for its majestic beauty and its capacity...

I enjoy images that are drenched in bright, dramatic colors, and I like images that are toned down, with a limited range of earthy hues. It's good to be able to switch back and forth, to keep things interesting.
